MOCHO TO ARCADIA CORRIDOR

In Government

The Mocho to Arcadia roadway serves several rural communities including Mocho, Arcadia, Johnson and Niagra in St. James. The roadway also serves as a link to the neighbouring communities of Elderslie and Maggoty in St. Elizabeth. Additionally, the corridor is used to access historical sites such as Accompong Town, a well noted Maroon settlement located in St. Elizabeth.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the project involves the rehabilitation of approximately 7.4 kilometres of roadway to include drainage improvement, the construction of retaining walls, and the reshaping and resurfacing of the roadway.

The project is being executed by local contractor S& G Road Surfacing Materials, through funding made available from the TEF. This project is expected to be completed by January 2016.
